Well, I believe most of you know what is WordPress, but as I’m getting a lot of e-mails daily on how to start a website, I’ve decided to write a little about my favourite Content Management System (someone calls it just Blog script) that makes thing easier, makes me smile and enjoy writing and publishing.
I was a bit confused when I first came to www.wordpress.org website. It looked like just another basic PHP blog script. I didn’t planed to do anything with WordPress.
Then, some unusual day, I bought tutorials007.com domain. I started to look around a bit, to find any good Tutorial Management System. I didn’t found anything that will fit my needs.
I had no time to make my own script. I thought - Great, I bought a domain and I don’t even have a script to use.
So I typed www.wordpress.org once again In my browser. Downloaded it. Instaled on my local server.
I was shocked! Shocked! This is so powerful! I felt like the whole word is mine.
Ok. Let’s talk about Wordpress a little.
What is WordPress?
WordPress is a blog publishing system. It’s written in PHP programming language and uses MySQL database to store your data. It can be used as a simple blog or as a complete content management system.
What’s so powerfull about WordPress?
- 1000’s of plugins available
- 1000’s of themes available
- you can make your own themes
- users can register to your blog/community
- can have multiptle authors/writers/contributors
- has some integrated plugins like link manager, upload manager…
- can make multiple categories, subcategories
- static pages
- search engine friendly (SEO) permalink structure
- What You See Is What You Get editor
- trackback and pingback
- can block some unwanted visitors by using their IP adress
- tag support
- great admin panel
….and a lot more.
Who should use it?
Everybody. I recommend it to everybody. Beginers with no experience in coding, designing , this is the amazing opportunity for you to express yourself on the internet!
Advanced web design, web development users - use it! It makes your life easier. Makes you feel free.
I feel like I’m re-born after I started with this CMS/Blog system. Everything is easier, nothing is unreachable!
Well, this is a little something about my favourite CMS/Blog publishing system.
If you liked this short article, please share it and also you could submit to my RSS feed!
